Appointment of Returning Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB)
January 14, 2020 – The Board of Directors of The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (TBDSSAB) announces the appointment of Lucy Kloosterhuis as their returning Chair and Kim Brown as the returning Vice-Chair. The appointment took place at the Board’s inaugural 2020 meeting held on January 9, 2020.
Lucy Kloosterhuis, Mayor of the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge, returns as the Board Chair, having previously served in that role for the 2018 and 2019 years. Kim Brown, representative for the Territories without Municipal Organization (TWOMO), returns as the Vice-Chair, having assumed the role in January 2019.
“TBDSSAB administration is pleased to draw on such strong and experienced leadership in the development of strategic plans, governing policies and advocacy efforts,” said TBDSSAB CAO Bill Bradica. “Our staff, clients, and tenants will certainly benefit from the continued leadership and support of the Board in 2020.”
“Kim and I look forward to working with the Board and Mr. Bradica in fulfilling the strategic objectives of TBDSSAB for another year,” said returning Chair Lucy Kloosterhuis. TBDSSAB was established by the Province of Ontario on April 1, 1999, through the enactment of the District Social Services Administration Board Act. It is one of 47 service managers that is mandated by the Province to deliver social services. TBDSSAB is responsible for delivering and administering Child Care and Early Years services, Social and Affordable Housing, Ontario Works and Homelessness Prevention programs to people living in the District of Thunder Bay. The District includes 15 municipalities which are represented on the Board of Directors by 13 municipally appointed representatives. As well, the Board of Directors includes an elected representative from the Territories Without Municipal Organization.
